Hotaru- Saturn's Firefly. Tomoe means saturn and hotaru mean's firefly... put them together and you get A saturn firefly. :)
Mythology:
Cronos killed his father Uranus and tried, unsuccessfully, to kill his children. Rheia had five children and Cronos swallowed them whole as quickly as they were born. When her sixth child, Zeus, was born, Rheia tricked Kronos and gave him a stone instead of the baby. Cronos didn’t find out about the deception until it was too late. Zeus ambushed Cronos and kicked him so hard he vomited forth the other, swallowed gods, fully grown: Hades, Hestia, Demeter, Hera and Poseidon. Cronos is a harvest god and also associated with time. He carried a knife with a curve that is kind of like a
sickle, and this was the weapon he had used to kill Uranus.
Our concepts of Father Time and the Grim Reaper carrying a scythe a direct homage to Kronos.
Both of these more modern figures are sometimes accompanied by
a crow. Robert Graves wrote that the word Cronos and the god may have
meant "crow," but could just be confused with the similar Latin "cornix"
or Greek "corone" for crow.
The alchemical
symbol for the planet Saturn, is that same curved shape of the knife
mentioned earlier, which can also be thought of as a crescent moon.
The moon has been associated with harvest for a number of reasons, but I'm not going to talk about that. Harvest was also associated with death because of the end of growing season
The Romans identified Cronus with their god Saturn. Saturn, the Sower, was also a god of agriculture. The Roman god's festival, called the Saturnalia, was held from December 17 to the 19th and was quite popular.
