Welcome...

Yes... it has begun. The purpose of Eternal Moon Fansubs is reall for selfish reasons. I have taken it upon myself to learn Mandarin Chinese. In order to improve learning and become more proficient, one should be engrossed in a chinese speaking environment... or at least that's the best way to do it. Since I cannot relocate to the far ends of the world and ensconce myself into a chinese society, I've decided to do it a bit differently. By watching/reading Chinese/Taiwanese dramas, I've become a bit more familiar with the language and in using it in everyday situations. By analyzing Mandarin/Cantonese subtitles, I hope to learn more. So, with that being said, there's bound to be mistakes, since I am still learning the language. So in effect, the subtitles that I put out are really "programs" for my learning experience. But why waste translating a show on just myself? I might as well share my hard work with the rest of the world. Who knows, it may be beneficial to others. So anyway, there's my schpeel. The subtitles I'll be putting out are translated and timed by only me and no one else. So be kind! Like I said, I'm not fluent, and I'm just learning, but I hope my progress and work will be appreciated by the masses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between hardsubs and softsubs?

Hardsubs are subtitles embedded onto a video file. This means the subtitle cannot be seperated from the video file, and come as one complete file. A softsub means there is a file (which can easily be modified) seperate from the video file. The softub files you will find on this site will be in .srt format. You will need to load the subtitle file through your media player that is playing the video file.

How do I view .srt files with .rmvb files?

Install Real Alternative. Media Player Classic comes with Real Alternative when you install it. Open Media player classic, load the .rmvb video file, the go to FILE > LOAD SUBTITLE. Select the .srt subtitle file and voila.
If subtitles are not showing, try the following settings:
1. Go to View > Options, under Playback, click on Output.
2. In DirectShow Video, select VMR9 (renderless).
3. Try loading the video and subtitles file again.

Can I redistribute your subtiles?

No. Please not redistribute my subtitles. There's bound to be tons of mistakes, and I don't want people all up in arms about it. I don't want people modifying them... and in most cases people won't credit me with doing all the work to begin with.
What about on streaming site like veoh or crunchyroll?

Again, the answer is no. You can view my subtitles on Youtube.

Can you upload your videos to streaming sites like veoh, dailymotion or crunchyroll?

No. I'm not going to upload my videos to 50 different places. You can view them on youtube or download the video/srt and watch it that way.

I have a video file, but the subtitles don't match?

Make sure you downloaded the YDY Raw. There are other raws available from ICEFISH and 6th Sense. My subtitles are times only to YDY.

Can you retime the subtitle for the other raw files?

No. This takes too much time. At some point after all the subs are done, I may think about adding timing for the others, but I have no plans on doing so at this point in time.

How long does it take to sub one episode?

Well, fo me... a long time. Since I am just learning Mandarin, I'm not fluent. I'm doing these projects as a way to learn Mandarin, rather than bury myself in a book for 50 hours a week. This is why there is bound to be mistakes, since I'm not fluent. As I learn more, the subs will take less time.
